Presentation The showroom in Via Roma, in the very heart of modern Pescara, is unexpected, almost a casket full of precious and tasteful objects resulting from the skilful processing of gold and silver. These special jewels are designed by Italo Lupo, together with the Customer, with an eye to a small-series production based on unique patterns. All the objects are manually made with gold 750/000 or silver 925/000. Thanks to a wide range of equipment and tools, the production in series of gold or silver medals, promotional objects, corporate pins, etc. is also possible; our company can also provide all the relevant sketches, drawings and prototypes. We can offer a wide range of products because we are artisans and do not have the mass-production or fixed plan constraints of larger companies. More than everything else, we want to create new and different things. In other words, we leave…. the obvious gold to the others! "Presentosa" This jewel was often given to young women as a promise of love; the word comes from "presente", i.e. a present, a gift, which then turned into "presentenza" and "presentosa" in the local dialect. This is why the heart decoration is the most common for this jewel. The jewel has a star shape, with one or two hearts in the middle surrounded by filigree or wire spirals. It was very common in the area of Lanciano, Valle Peligna and L'Aquila, but also in other areas of southern Italy: the most important producing centres were Agnone and Guardiagrele. Gabriele D'Annunzio, who was often inspired by the Abruzzo folklore, called it presentosa" in his work "Il tionfo della morte" (1894), thus rendering it famous at national level (from the book "Ori e argenti d'Abruzzo" by Adriana Gandolfi and Ezio Mattiocco, published by CARSA ) Our "presentosa" is hand-made with 750/000 gold and has a unique pattern. The boxes that we use to pack "presentosa" and other typical handicrafts of Abruzzo are made of Maiella stone dug out from the Lettomanoppello pit, next to the Maiella Mountain, also known as the "mother mountain" The goldsmith Lupo designed and carved them. This raw material and its soft shapes are the symbol of the beautiful land of Abruzzo. Heart of Abruzzo The heart is one of the most typical symbols of Abruzzo. It can be found in many objects which were commonly used by the Abruzzo shepherds at the end of the Eighteenth century. Pescocostanzo goldsmiths used to make heart-shaped pendants where the shepherds put the hair of their beloved ones when they left for the transhumance. The heart also contains other shapes: the sun, i.e. the symbol of male fertility; the moon, the symbol of female fertility; the horn, a lucky symbol. The profile pattern is the symbol of gemmation, i.e. the renewal of life. Pescarina, the sea "presentosa" Pescarina was chosen by Pescara as the jewel which represents the city. For cultural and geographic reasons, contrary to the Abruzzo goldsmith's tradition, Pescara has always had a mountain tradition. Therefore it does not have a typical precious jewel or an object which represents the city. Hence the idea to combine the filigree with the starfish, typical of our beaches. The Piceni people On the occasion of the exhibitions devoted to the Piceni people, held in the Archaeological Museums of Teramo and Ascoli Piceno, we have decided to pay a tribute to a culture which, in good and evil, is part of the DNA of Abruzzo. We have created some jewels inspired by the Piceni and adapted them to the current fashion needs.
