| The ABRUZZO has seen a strong industrial movement over the past decade which has dramatically trasformed the social and economic scene. From a deprived Southern region, it has become to a true phenomenon of development which stands alongside the most advanced Italian regions. Its growth has been built up around local structures with high performance and productive diversification (Val Vibrata, Val Pescara, etc.). Today, our region is able to strenghten and build upon the encouraging performance of the four Industrial Districts so that it can become an influential member of leading economic and productive regions in Italy. Seventeen thousend six hundred businesses and local firms in the CLOTHING industry, the highest regional concentration in this sector, the powerful presence of the LEATHER and FURNITURE industry in the area, the highest quality of FARM PPRODUCE and CRAFTS (Castelli pottery), typify the ABRUZZO as a highly specialist multi-sectorial area, able to perform a major role in International Marketing. |

This is the message wich the International ABB-PELL-MOBILE (CLOTHING-LEATHER-FURNITURE) Conference will be launching on 11-14th March 1999 (at BADIA di CORROPOLI TE) to trade operators and commercial enterprises, to its Italian clients and above all those from abroad. At regional level, the Val Vibrata - Vomano - Tordino district has the highest density of businesses (41.93% of the industry in the major manufacturing areas - CLOTHING - LEATHER - FURNITURE etc.). The particular aspect of this multi-sector area is its production experience over many decades, its high level of quality and its wide range of products. Here you'll find the main Italian designer labels and the most famous Italian and European commercial companies. Those innovative lines of casual clothing and sports wear clothing wich were to set fashion trends and demands of today, were designed here in the 1980s. CLOTHING This sector includes: in the Region 17.600 businesses. The CLOTHING industry in Abruzzo has the highest territorial concentration of businesses in this sector in the whole of Italy. Val Vibrata stands fifth in the ITALIAN FASHION-CLOTHING business. The most important area is casual wear, but a wide diversification of products covers the entire range of products.
